Legacy is a male southern gospel quartet ministry based in Garner, NC. Clyde Sorrell of Durham, NC and Walter Bass of Garner, NC, who have ministered together since 1973, formed Legacy Ministries Inc. in 1990. Singing in excess of 100 times per year, and traveling 25-30 thousand miles per year, Legacy has ministered to hundreds of thousands in audiences of various sizes in North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. A customized coach adds a measure of comfort during the long hours on the road.

Legacy was formed for the sole purpose of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song and testimony. We have been blessed to witness hundreds of souls won into the Kingdom of God as a result of our ministry. Although church worship services are predominate in our schedule, concerts, homecomings, revivals and other functions are also vitally important. Our program consists of a mixture of the old favorites, and new songs written by our keyboard player, sung by male four-part harmony, and played by Legacy musicians.

Legacy members are Walter Bass of Garner, NC (tenor), James Kirby of Kenly, NC (lead), Mike Aycock of Nahunta, NC (baritone), Durwood Hargis of Clayton, NC (keyboards, songwriter, and vocalist), Tim Aycock of Pikeville, NC (drums), Gene Dawson of Goldsboro, NC (dobro, steel guitar, harmonica), and Johnny Head of Pikeville, NC (bass guitar). Our lovely wives travel with us when family responsibilities allow, and pray for us whenever we must travel without them. Their faithful support has been a tremendous blessing.

We of Legacy, look forward to being in your area, and invite everyone to bring a friend and let’s have a great time together.
