January 2002                                                              Print Legacy Newsletter

America has been blessed throughout its history, due primarily to our foundation as “one nation under God”.  Recent events have reminded us just how precious freedom really is.  Of all the blessings we have as Christians, the greatest blessing is that greatest gift God gave the world in sending His only son to pay the penalty we deserved when He died on the cross.  The good news that Legacy is privileged to share each week is that the story doesn’t end at the cross, but Jesus conquered death and the grave and rose again to pave the way to us to spend eternity with Him!!

Legacy is blessed to have within its family, one of gospel music’s premier songwriters, Durwood Hargis.  He writes the majority of the songs that Legacy sings.  Our most recent recording has seven of Durwood’s songs, one of which is titled “Never Get Used To It”.  In this song, is the line, “From a throne, to a stable, from a crown to the cross, God’s only son took my place”.  How humbling it is to think the creator of our universe loved humanity so much, that mindful of our sinful state versus His pure holiness, He bridged the gap through His son Jesus, paying the ultimate sacrifice.  That should get any Christian excited and full of gratitude and praise for almighty God!!

An upcoming event you don’t want to miss will be the Wayne County Gospel Jubilee, on January 5, 2002 at the First Assembly of God in Goldsboro at 7:00pm.  Among the groups in attendance will be the Royal Descendants, Heaven’s Echoes, Legacy, King’s Messengers, Canaanland and Called Out.  We look forward to seeing you there for a wonderful night of gospel music!!

In Christian Love,

Tim Perry for Legacy
