One of the many reasons I enjoy singing gospel music is that it’s the only kind of music where the words can change a life.  Two of my favorite songwriters are Legacy’s own Durwood Hargis and Rodney Griffin of Greater Vision.  In listening to a video recently, I heard the Florida Boys sing one of Rodney Griffin’s songs, which really ministered to me.  The words were such a blessing, I decided to relay them to you this month and I hope it touches you like it touched me.  The song is titled, “I’m Forgiven” and the words are as follows:
………………………………..
“You’ve been living in the shadows, of your hurts and past mistakes.  If you had the chance, you’d love to try again.  I too wish I could go back and change the things I’ve done.  It’s only by the blood of Jesus I can say:

I’m forgiven. I’ve been forgiven, of the things that had brought me guilt and shame; Now I am free, to live in victory.  Those sins of mine are all behind.  I’ve been forgiven.

There’s no need to recall the times, you’ve wandered from the Lord; If His cleansing flow has washed your sins away.  So when Satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future.  He knows he’ll never have the chance to say;

 I’m forgiven.  I’ve been forgiven, of the things that had brought me guilt and shame; Now I am free, to live in victory.  Those sins of mine are all behind.  I’ve been forgiven”

What a wonderful truth!  We ARE forgiven!!  One of satan’s tricks in taking away the joy of our salvation is continually bringing up our past failures and mistakes.  Folks, the blood of Jesus covered our sins and we stand justified and righteous in the eyes of God because Jesus paid the penalty for our sins and died for us.  If you have not asked Jesus into your heart, now would be the perfect time.  You don’t have to wait and clean up your life before coming to Him. He’ll take you just as you are!!  Whatever sins or transgressions you have committed, no matter how bad or shameful, no sin is too great that Jesus can’t wash you white as snow and give you a brand new start.  If you are already a Christian and your witness has been hampered by Satan bringing up your past failures, remember that you are a child of the King and your sins were covered at the cross. You can live from this point forward victorious in the fact that by trusting in Jesus, your salvation is secure and your eternal home awaits you one glorious day. Just think, you have a friend interceding on your behalf who is continually at the right hand of the Father.  Through the valleys Jesus is there.  Through the mountaintop experiences, Jesus is there.  Through it all, you always have a friend who understands you better than anyone and knows your limitations and shortcomings, but loves you anyway!   Praise the Lord for His love!!  Praise the Lord for His forgiveness!!  Praise the Lord!!!!

In Christian Love,

Tim Perry for Legacy
