'On The Road With Legacy' - Quarter 1            Print Legacy Newsletter

He entered the world born in a farm family, a proud tradition he carried on as an adult.  With pride he farmed the soil and showed what true hard work was all about.  As a father there is no equal and he is head and shoulders above all others.  With perfect balance, he both worked the long hours and made time for his most important asset, his family.  His children walk with pride in the knowledge of who their father is.  In the community he is held in the highest regard, both for his integrity and the love he shows to everyone.  His wife on a daily basis realizes the sacrifices he has made to keep his family safe and secure.  The love that his family shows him is a direct reflection of all the love he has shown his entire life.  With pride, they call him daddy, husband and friend.  He is my daddy and he is my hero.

Two thousand years ago, He entered the world born in a carpenter’s family.  With pride He went about His father’s business and set the example of true love and compassion.  At the age of 33, after living a sinless life, healing multitudes and even raising the dead, He agreed to become the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world, so that humanity would have the opportunity of eternal life.  Although He never committed the first sin, for the crime of showing love He was beaten, ridiculed and nailed to a cross.  Even in the midst of this ultimate injustice, He still said “Father forgive them”.  He is my Jesus, my Savior and my hero.

I mention these two individuals in this context for a reason.  If there was anyone who did not deserve to be nailed to a cross, it was Jesus.  He did nothing but show love and compassion His entire life.  My dad is battling cancer as I write this.  If there is anyone on this earth who does not deserve this it is him. On a daily basis he shows the love of Jesus in the support and compassion he gives his friends and family. I am so proud of him and always have been.  Injustices and sickness occur because we live in a fallen world, but there is ultimately good news.  I know that when I take my last breath, I will immediately be in the presence of Jesus, in pure perfection and will have a great meeting and reunion with everyone I’ve wanted to see for so long.  They will know me and we will start back where we left off here on earth.  Jesus is the great physician and is able to work miracles beyond a shadow of a doubt.  He can work a miracle in my dad’s life; however the greatest miracle has already taken place. That is in spite of the fact that we are sinners and fail Him everyday, He still loves us and has made a way for us to have eternal life.  We will never truly die.  Whenever God calls me home, I will immediately and consciously be in His presence, not because of the fact that I’m a deacon, or a gospel singer, but because I admitted several years ago that I was a sinner, undeserving of heaven and asked Jesus to come into my heart, save me and be the Lord and Savior of my life.  His blood sacrifice covered all my sins.  That is the great news that Legacy loves to sing about.  Please keep our family and my dad in your prayers.

In closing, Legacy would like to invite you to an exciting upcoming event.  We will be having Dollywood’s Kingdom Heirs again on February 3rd, 2006 at 7:00pm.  The concert will be held at Pikeville PFWB Church, located on Nahunta Road in Pikeville.  There will be no admission charge with a love offering being taken.  Look forward to seeing you there.  Please continue to keep Legacy in your thoughts and prayers.

In Christian Love,

Tim Perry for Legacy
